Project ....... Voice Recorder

This involves delving a little deeper into the performance of the ISD2560 integrated Voice Recorder used in the Nuova Elettronica LX 1524 Kit to adapt it to the needs of the project reported at the end of the article. Here we see the original project assembled and used to record the messages.

Naturally, everything is managed by the integrated circuit in question and offers the possibility of recording multiple messages for a maximum duration of one minute with good reproduction fidelity. Unfortunately, in the proposed implementation the problem arises that the messages must be recorded in sequence but above all listened to sequentially (i.e. if we want to listen to MSG n° 2 we must first listen to MSG n° 1). This would make it unusable for the intended application. Analyzing the original project we see that several pins are grounded so it is conceivable that several possibilities are not exploited. In fact it is possible among other things to select the message to listen to. Below is a diagram to understand which signals are needed to achieve message selection.

 

I hope the sequence of the signals to be sent is clear enough. We can ask ourselves if the use of a PIC is not excessive to obtain these signals, but I would like to immediately underline the flexibility offered by this solution: it is sufficient to change the soft to obtain different functions. Furthermore, as you can see, the required components are very few and other matter is the overall vision of the final project to which it is intended. Then the unused doors will return useful for the future developments of the project. But let's go back to examining the proposed scheme: the PIC function is clarified, let's see the three buttons that allow you to listen to the selected message. In the final project it will be the radio control to select the message. The TDA 2003 has been added to increase the output power: the small speaker in practical realization is only to monitor messages, in the final version it will be replaced by two speakers of adequate size. Realized and in the test phase, a problem has been presented not exactly expected: the ignition sometimes, casually, the MSG n ° 1 is reproduced. Timpism The Portb 1. The problem is solved in an empirical but effective way: the msg n ° 1 is empty .... one or two seconds so as not to remove precious time to the real messages so even if we are reproduced we do not hear anything. Of course, subsequent messages become those actually listened to. A friend embarked it is appropriate to say it, in the realization of the model of the battleship Rome in 1: 100 scale (it is 2.40 meters long) and is the intention of making it navigable and with all the radio -controlled functions. In addition to the fundamental functions, rudder and engines for the propellers, there are the separate commands for all the turrets and rates of the cannons, the winch for the anchors, the generator of Futaba noise etc. etc. (In the detail of the photo you can see the servant who commands the cannon rash). The installation of a video camera on the main turret is expected: the smoking machine has also been placed under the smashes also as said a noise generator, but here the above project comes into play. The noise of the cannons and the anti -aircraft is not available and therefore is reproduced by our device. Furthermore, with the space still available in the memory of the integrated, I was able to record a message to illustrate the characteristics of the exposed model.
