The 1N4001 diodes must be mounted in contact with the respective transistors for thermal compensation (in the photo you can clearly see the one on the 2N4427). T1 made with a ferroxcube toroidal core with an external diameter of approximately one centimeter: four turns between poles 3 and 4, eleven turns between poles 5 and 6 wound in the same direction with 0.25 mm wire while a single turn between poles 1 and 2 . Receiving part: BFY90 input with good sensitivity followed by a MAR3 as can be seen in the block diagram below. Unfortunately, there are no notes in the article regarding calibration, which requires a lot of patience and a good signal generator.
